A minor update.

SimpleExtManager 2025.4.1 (Beta)

Finally published the MV3 version of SEM!

Put out as a separate entry for everyone to test as beta first.

If theres no problems reported for a period of time I'll update it to the main entry.

But for the new MV3 build, it will be a fresh start.

As in it will not carry over settings from the old MV2 build.

This is because the MV3 code cannot access the old MV2 storage API anymore.

Some changes and quirks.

Moved out the changelog to the web.

Pinned icon should be visible in dark mode.

For white icon select the 'dark' theme in Options.

Simplified the version number too [year.month.build of month]

SimpleExtManager 1.4.11

A small update.

Added a short line of code that enables the group list in the web page right-click menu to also show in the extension icon right-click menu.

Got the word that you guys want a choice in the theme.
So this update adds theme selection.

As usual will be up for both Chrome and Opera after it pass moderation.

Just sent 1.4.9 off for review at both Chrome and Opera stores.

Added in dark mode support.

The popup will now automatically go dark if it detects that the OS is in dark mode.

Will be available when it passes the review.

Dark mode support will be added to the rest of the Simple series eventually.

SimpleExtManager 1.4.8

Finally got down one of the requested functions.
The ability to collapse groups.

Its just a basic implementation. Things I'm looking to do for the next update is to add a way to expand/collapse all groups and retire the simple groups view.

I see the support section, overflowing with requests.
I'm just one person with things I need and want to do.
Things will move slow, new stuff will come eventually.

Search bar clear button

A minor version up to SimpleUndoClose, SimpleUndoRecents, SimpleExtManager and Bookmarks by the Side.

Its mainly the addition of a clear button on the search bar. When you type something a "X" will appear at the right end of the bar. Pressing it will clear what you typed.

Came by suggestion by user cvvaroo.
I think someone requested it too.
Also updated Russian translation of SimpleUndoRecents, contributed by cvvaroo too.

Bookmarks by the Side already had it implemented, this update just improve the style of it  for dark mode.

SimpleUndoClose and SimpleUndoRecents also include HTML escaping for page titles to prevent XSS attack as reported by user 杀生丸子.

Applied 3 digit simplified version numbering too.

SimpleExtManager 1.4.6

A bug fix release.
This one is reported by user Travis McAlister.

Apparently the fix for the zoom bug implemented in back in 1.4.4 is behaving differently on systems with high resolution retina monitors. We had a bit of back and forth correspondence and found that out.

Anyway the bug is fixed and the update will be up soon.

SimpleExtManager 1.4.5

A small fix update.
Also decided to stick to a 3 digit version number as much as possible :P

This update changes a ES6 arrow function to maintain support with older Chrome versions, not encouraging users not to update Chrome but to acknowledge users that have to use older Chrome versions for reasons. Thanks to the user who brought this up.

Also fix the grouped indicator not showing when the options and uninstall options are unchecked. Something I forgot to add.

SimpleExtManager 1.4.4

Experiencing the zoom problem first hand made me revisit SimpleExtManager. Also made some changes and additions to make group management in the popup easier, I hope.

This update includes:

• Fixed the sizing when global zoom is set
• Fixed handling of "&" in group name when importing backup
• Fixed group losing position after changing group name
• Added extension count for groups
• Added checking for new group names
• Added grouped indicator in popup, hover over and wait for tooltip with info to appear
• Added way to create new group in popup right-click menu, under "Add/Move to Group..."
• Added way to delete group in popup right-click menu, right-click group name
• Groups the extension is part of won't show in right-click menu
• Made the group creation dialog in options taller

At the Opera side I see requests to have some function to hide what shows in the toolbar. Sorry that cannot be done by extensions as Chrome and Opera did not provide a way for extensions to do that. But you can still manually hide icons from the toolbar here.

A quick bug fix.

The extension count is misaligned when "Group extension list by category" is disabled.
Thanks to user cvvar00 who reported the problem.

Also includes a revised Russian translation also by cvvar00.

The "Group extension list by category" is also hidden in Opera as it only works for Chrome.

Adding in 2 features, making it easier to do 2 things users want but Google don't allow and fixing plus tweaking things that didn't occur to me in the last round of coding.

• Added show bottom tabs at the top
• Added only allow one enabled group
• Added "Manage" item in right-click menu
• Fixed extension count not refreshing while popup open
• More accurate group state by omitting "not installed" extensions
• Make it that SEM cannot be added to groups
• New translations: Arabic and Serbian
• Opera improvements
• Other misc tweaks and fixes

I know its been a while.
Kind of wanted to be away from coding for a while.

Anyway, I have an update ready!

The main thing is to graduate the sidebar support for the Opera version from the preview build to the main build now that the sidebar feature is available in the Opera Stable channel.

For Chrome users some of the request and reports are addressed:
- extension states are left untouched on saving a group
- uninstalled entry will be removed after uninstall when popup is open
- the extension icon will open the store pages when clicked

Theres been a lot of suggestions and reports, just to let you guys know I do read them but I don't respond to all.

SimpleExtManager (Sidebar support Preview) 1.4.3.999

A peak at how SEM looks in a sidebar ;)

Scheduled to be added proper into the main SEM entry when Opera 29 goes stable. So ultimately there will be only 1 SEM entry in the Opera Addon Store in the end.

A lot of problems pop up when a popup becomes a sidebar like how the resizeable height and width messes with the layout and how updates have to become real time as a sidebar does not disappear after an action.

Tried to touch the main code as little as possible in order to maintain the same code for both Chrome and Opera builds.

I'll also like to thank the Opera moderators, dmichnowicz and for_d, for answering my questions pertaining to the publishing and visibility of sidebar extensions.

SimpleExtManager 1.4.3.9

Another Opera orientated update.

Mainly its to address the issue brought up by teoo about the homepage links for extensions installed from the Chrome Web Store by the "Download Chrome Extension" (I suppose). Added code to allow SEM to differentiate those extensions and provide a link to the Chrome Web Store page instead of a 404 page at Opera's.

Also theres some minor layout changes to accommodate the addition of the sidebar. Code level, visually theres no change. Ok looks like theres a font change. Maybe I'll change it back in the next build.

Would like to thank Opera moderator dmichnowicz for the help. Really adds that human touch to the submission process. Learnt that sometimes you have to check the packed NEX file too even though the unpacked version works.

SimpleExtManager 1.4.3.8

An Opera only update.

Seems like nights have become busy on installing Opera Developer 29. Mainly fixes the Opera detection code.

In Opera Dev 29, "window.navigator.vendor" which is used in the detection still gives "Google. Inc" which fails the Opera detection. The improved detection code uses an additional "window.navigator.userAgent".

Another thing added is that the extension icons are now links to the extension's Opera Addons page.

Have been trying out adding sidebar support, maybe I'll add that in soon.
